Daniel Elliott, or “DrDan,” as he is called by customers, is retired from his 30-year position as a college and graduate school professor. He is also retired from his 40-year position as a California school teacher and administrator. Dan has organized “Dr. Dan’s Stringed Instrument Service " working out of his home shop at 5725 Happy Pines Drive, Foresthill, CA895631. He takes work there by appointment. He is also at The Music Store to handle drop-off and pickup of instruments (4815 Granite Dr., Rocklin, CA95677). Dan also served as an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene, serving bivocationally since 1992. He still serves in volunteer ministry capacities in his denomination and at his local church.

Learning to play guitar at the age of 14, Dan’s teacher helped him learn how to take care of his own instrument since he couldn’t afford to have repairs done for him. Over the years, this became a hobby for Dan, and after retirement, he began to help others with their instruments. He served at his Son’s music store as an instrument “tech" for 14 years, growing in his capacity for work on guitars, banjos, ukuleles, mandolins, violins, and even autoharps.

Since 2015, Isaac Humber has been serving The Music Store as our woodwind and brasswind repair technician. 

Through Isaac, The Music Store offers a full range of repair services for all woodwind and brasswind instruments, from minor adjustments to overhaul and restoration . Remember, yearly maintenance on your instrument can prevent costly repairs in the future !

Check in your instrument at The Music Store any time during business hours, and Isaac will carefully examine your horn personally and call with an estimate as promptly as possible. Although usually hard at work in the repair shop, Isaac is available for scheduled appointments as time allows, and is also present at the store weekly . With many returning customers, Isaac understands that his reputation stands on his work. Attention to detail and going the extra mile makes a difference ! No matter what the extent of the job, Isaac guarantees his work on every horn that leaves the shop.

From an early age, Isaac discovered a deep interest in working with his hands and bringing broken things back to life. He began pursuing band instrument repair at sixteen years old, assuming the role of a traditional apprentice to local music legend, Fred Morgan. Mr. Morgan and his business, Fred’s Musical Repair, was a cornerstone to the local music community in Rocklin and beyond for nearly 50 years. After recovering from combat injury in WWII, Fred Morgan attended one of the first official schools for band instrument repair, hosted by the renowned C.G. Conn company. Fred graduated the Conn repair school in 1946, and continued to repair instruments up until his death in February of 2015.

Isaac is extremely grateful for the opportunity to have apprenticed with Fred, emerging with

priceless experience and knowledge in the craft. He continues to refine his skills through practical experience,

mentorship with other technicians, and attending clinics and seminars as a member of the National Association of Band Instrument Repair Technicians ( NAPBIRT)
